Our purpose
The Education Review Office (ERO) and Te Rūnanga Nui o Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Aotearoa (TRN) are working together to capture the journey of learners who have experienced Te Aho Matua education, Poutiria te reo Mauriora .

Koinei te taiao motuhake o Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Hoani Waititi Marae.
Raukura kōrero
If we didn’t have kura kaupapa Māori ; if we didn’t have this marae; I would not have my reo Māori. My world would be totally different, if my parents didn’t think to send me to this kura.
Te reo Māori remains the cornerstone of everything. Te Aho Matua is about empowering people; it does not suppress people. It acknowledges your whakapapa and whānau – it does not look at the single person, but the whole whānau is able to take part in the kaupapa.
Truely, to us that was our home. It was due to our kaiako protecting us, teaching us te reo , teaching us tikanga and having compassion and empathy. We were surrounded by aroha and everything that entails.
If you were to ask any of the raukura from Hoani Waititi, where are you from? Where is your marae? To be honest, Hoani Waititi would be one of them. We as kaiako, board members and whānau members, can all see ourselves as parents to the children in this place.
